Recipes vs guide
Hello, First I love the audiobooks! I've listened to them all twice. Which leads me to my question. Since I listen and not read how do I find the recipes? I see the recipe guides but no the actual recipes, am I missing something? Thank you.
Reply for Cleo:
Hi, there. Thank you for stopping by Cleo's message board. We hope you have seen Cleo's recipe page on this site and the many recipes she offers FOR FREE as a bonus to the members of the reading community who enjoy her culinary mystery writing. You say you are a fan of the audiobooks, which is lovely, and asked about her Recipe Guides...We hope this reply helps you understand the differences between audiobooks and printed and digital books... Here you go...
The Recipe Guides Cleo creates are a courtesy bonus for readers of Cleo Coyle's Coffeehouse Mystery books (printed and e-books). The Guides provide free illustrations and additonal text for readers who are interested in learning more about the recipes found in Cleo's books (printed and ebooks, that is).
The Coffeehouse Mystery audiobooks, which we are happy that you are enjoying, are produced dramatic performances that consist of an actor reading the stories for you. That's what you are paying for -- a perfornace of Cleo's story by a professional actor. These are produced with care and expense by a separate audiobook publisher who has bought a license for the audio rights--and only the audio rights. Just as you might enjoy a film or play based on a book, an audio book is not the same as the printed or digially printed book.
In other words, the audio rights to Cleo's works are for the reading aloud of her text, and that's all. No printed rights are granted. Printed rights go to the publisher of her physical and digital editions, which is where you will find the printed recipes featured in the back of each book.
Again, when you purchase an audiobook, you are paying for a performance of the story by an actor. Audiobooks do not include all aspects of the printed book. You won't find Cleo's acknowledgements page read aloud, for example, just as you won't find the recipe pages read aloud. If you are interested in thoses things, the physical or digital copies of Cleo's books will provide them.
Cleo also encourages her reading community to subscribe to her free newsletters, which include bonus recipes. Subscribe via this link and watch for the confirmation page of the newsletter, which will provide you with links to some of her past newsletters and bonus recipes to enjoy. Thank you!
Cookbook
Hello! You've probably heard this a thousand times before but I think you should publish a Coffeehouse cookbook starring every recipe of yours that is on your site, a culinary mystery site, or in one of the Coffeehouse books. You can also add some of the fun stuff you included like the different coffee drink names from Billionaire Blend, historical facts from Dead to the Last Drop, and even the dream symbolism you did before the recipes in Once Upon a Grind. I bet it would sell as well as the rest of your books! I adore your books!
Cleo's reply:
I am sincerely delighted to know that you're enjoying our stories and recipes. Marc and I do have plans, and that's to continue writng our Coffeehouse Mysteries and Haunted Bookshop Mysteries for the foreseeable future! We hope you continue to enjoy our stories. We have no plans to publish a cookbook because we are not cookbook authors. We understand why fans want one, but you have to understand the HUGE amount of work and cost involved in such an endeavor. We just don't see it as viable. HOWEVER...
On the bright side, we have loved to cook (and eat!) all our lives, and we plan to continue doing so and sharing that joy for years to come. We hope you and the rest of our readers will continue to be entertained and uplifted by our work and encourage everyone to keep in touch through our newsletter, social media, and this website. Thank you again for your kind words, and we hope YOU will keep reading and keep in touch, as well!

Hello, and thanks for you question! Marc and I are glad to know you are already looking forward to our 20th Coffeehouse Mystery, and we're flattered that you noticed ON WHAT GROUNDS (the very 1st book in our series) is about to have a big birthday next year.
Creative projects go through many stages of development, and we don't think it's ever a good idea to throw out news of what we're working on, not until the project is nearly finished. That means you'll have to wait a little longer to hear about Book #20 in our Coffeehouse Mystery series. In the meantime, we're happy that you are looking forward to Book #19. We hope you enjoy HONEY ROASTED, and we encourage you to keep in touch.

Hi I read one of your books and it had Pumpkin Muffins in it. I took pictures of it….and found out later….I missed some of the instructions. Can you please give it to me? Thanks, Linda R.

hi cleo, love your books, but being a senior and on fixed income, cant afford to buy them...thanks for some fab recipes, and lots of fun and mystery, keep'em coming!!!! a BIG< HUGE fan......kat
Cleo's reply -- Hi, Kat. Thanks for your kind support of our work. Here is our solution to your dilemma. Marc and I are big supporters of public libraries!
Every library that we know of has a staff that can help you freely borrow any book in the WORLD CAT catalog, as long as that book is in their network of libraries. And our books are absolutely available in almost all library **networks** (since they're published by Penguin Random House, the largest English language publisher of books in the world).
If you do not see all of our titles in your local library, simply ask the staff to help you locate copies of our work within their public library **network** lending system. That should do the trick for you. Thanks for stopping by, Kat.
May you always read with joy.
Love, Cleo

Reply to anonymous new reader - For this question, you should write to Cleo directly at her email address -- CoffeehouseMystery@gmail.com -- She is on a deadline, so be patient for a reply. Thank you!
Joy & What If?
JOY - Did Joy, at all, blame Matteo for the divorce and for Clare moving them to Jersey when she was a child?
.
WHAT IF? - I'd like to think that if Clare and Matteo also had a son before their divorce, the son would have been a Mama's Boy in contrast to Joy who is a Daddy's girl.

Change
I pre-ordered Honey Roasted a while ago and I got a notification from Barnes and Noble that it's been moved from December 7, 2021 to January 25, 2022. Why is that?
Cleo's reply - Because it's a better release date for the book. We hope you enjoy it!
GHOST AND HAUNTED PORTRAIT
Two words - Loved it! Keep them coming, Cleo. Jack and Pen are the best, and The Ghost and the Haunted Portrait kept me up late turning pages. Really enjoy it, great ending. Can't wait for the next Haunted Bookshop mystery. Darla

WORTH THE WAIT!
I just finished The Ghost and the Haunted Potrait. Wonderful read. So entertaining. Please don't stop writing the haunted books. Looking forward to the next. --Barb
Great book!!!
I just finished reading The Ghost and the Haunted Portrait. I could not put it down. It was a great read and a great ending. Keep the books coming. I really enjoy the characters and the plot. You are a gift to all mystery readers.PLEASE PLEASE A COOKBOOK
OMG I love Clare and her crazy adventures!!! But I would SERIOUSLY love a cookbook with ALL her recipes in it!!! Could this be possible?? PLEASE say it is!!Love Clair and company
I just listened to all of the Coffee House Mystery books in order! Loved how the stories flow from one to the next. Really enjoyed Brewed AWakening. So many twists and turns. Thank you for sharing your stories with all of us.If you wrote a book a week, I still couldn't get enough!
I started with your coffeehouse series and when I found the Haunted Bookshop, I was thrilled! What an interesting pair of sleuths :) My sister loves them too (I've been her lending library). Your stories are thrilling and the characters are hilarious and relatable. Makes me wish they were next door neighbors...Take care!Quinn's Kin
(warning - spoiler in the question)
Would you say Quinn's family likes Clare better than they ever did Leila, his ex-wife? After the events of Once Upon a Grind, do they resent Leila even more for (SPOILER ALERT) the fact that she was, although unintentionally, working beside a murderer and almost getting Molly and Clare killed? And what of Molly and Jeremy? Do they prefer Clare to their own mother? I mean, Leila did admit to putting her own needs first to Clare in that underground club.
Cleo is working on deadline and will respond soon. Thank you...
Movies & Fall & Past
MOVIES:
Your books deserve to have a movie or TV crime series. They would win awards hands down.
Cleo's reply: Wouldn't that be fun.
FALL:
I've noticed that quite a few of the Coffeehouse books take place during the autumn months. Is that your favorite season?
Cleo's reply: Yes.
PAST:
Have you considered a book where Clare is approached by her mother who walked out on her or someone who knows her mother? And what ever happened to the relatives Clare was staying with in Italy during the time she met Matteo?
Cleo's reply: In a long-running book series like the Coffeehouse Mysteries (book #19 will be published soon), developping plotlines from any character's past is always a possibility. What you've suggested has always been a possibility in our minds as writers. It's nice that you're invested in the characters and their stories and want to see more development from past threads. Keep reading and you may see those storylines appear again. You never know. Thank you!

BISHOPS BLEND
Creating blends is a culinary art, and I'm happy to report that the roasters for Bishops Blend have done a masterful job at creating theirs. The beans are roasted medium dark and the package came to me (via UPS) freshly roasted, beautifully oily, and smelling of chocolate. The coffee is perfectly balanced; and as it cools, the notes include a slight vanilla flavor and a touch of cinnamon. Even better, when you purchase a bag, a percentage of the money goes toward ERD, a charity that provides disaster relief around the world as well as enabling people in the poorest communities on our planet to climb out of poverty.

For the Love
of Our Vets
HONOR FLIGHT was created by a VA doctor when he discovered that his elderly patients (veterans of WW II) could not afford to make the trip to Wash. D.C. to see the WWII war memorial that is dedicated to them. Now a national organization, Honor Flight raises money to help WWII vets make the trip to visit the memorial that would not exist without their bravery and sacrifice. Cleo has proudly donated.
